GAWA KEYCHAIN TOOLS / Good Design Winning Award by Minister of Trade of Republic Indonesia 2019

Simple, Functional, and Stylish!

This product was born from an experiment in material reuse specifically, the leftover carbon steel offcuts from knife production. Rather than allowing these remnants to go to waste, the designer envisioned transforming them into a tool with an entirely new purpose. The result is a compact yet capable pry bar that embodies both utility and design consciousness.

When the need arises to pry, lift, or gain access to tight spaces, there is truly no substitute for a pry bar. Beyond its traditional role, this compact tool proves invaluable for everyday tasks: opening sealed cartons during unboxing, dismantling wooden pallet crates, or even prying open a stubborn wooden door that has jammed.

Unlike traditional pry bars or crowbars which are often too large and impractical for daily carry, this design redefines portability. Its slim profile and balanced weight make it discreet enough to keep on hand, without drawing the wrong impression about its purpose.

The thoughtful design and innovation behind this tool were recognized when it was awarded the Good Design Indonesia 2019 distinction, an honor bestowed by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia.
